Running Spybot v 1.4 for the First time
OK so you have now installed Spybot and now we are going to go over the first run, Please note that this Tutorial does continue from the installing Tutorial before this one.
Step One
Legal stuff will pop up read this then click "Don't show me this again" and click OK
Now the Spybot Wizard will pop up and don't worry this is only Run the first time you use the program so please don't think you have to do this every time.
Step Two
Click on "Create registry backup" (see picture). This may take a few minutes because its backing up your windows Registry. And its very important that you do not skip this because if you delete something by accident with spybot or spybot deletes something that causes your computer to run differently then you can revert to this and fix the problem.
once the back up is complete click Next.
Step Three
Now click on search for updates.
Step Four
Once done click on "Download all available updates"
Then click next
Step Five
Now Click on "Immunize this system". Once completed Click Next
Step Six
OK now your on the last step! Click "start using the program".
Step Seven
Now you have completed the last step of the first run you wont have to do that again, unless you have to reinstall for any reason. Now we are going to move on to actually using the program
Step Eight - Searching and Destroying
On the left hand side there is a menu, click on Search & Destroy then on the right Click "check for problems".
Now that you have started the scan all that's left for you to do at the moment is go and make you self a nice hot cup of tea :D and wait for the scan to finish
Step Nine
OK now the scan has finished (if this is the first time you have run this program you are no don't going to have more issues than what you see here, don't worry this is normal).
Now Click on "fix selected problems" at the top
Step Ten
Then you will be asked if you are sure Click Yes.
Step Eleven
Spybot will then fix your issues and let you know how many its fixed usually all of them. Please note: sometimes spybot will not be able to fix all the issues as the issues are associated with programs that are running and spybot will ask if you want it to run on "Next start up" to fix these problems, Click yes. All this will do is the next time you start your computer up before you can log in Spybot will run and then be able to remove the selected issues because at this point no programs are running.
Congratulations!!
Spybot is now installed and you have done your first run hopefully you can see why you needed this program and i would recommend that you run it at least once a week.
