How to Speed Up File Transfers In Windows Vista
In windows Vista File transfer speeds have been greatly reduced this is because of a new feature called Remote Differential Compression, this tutorial is going to show you how to disable this feature and in turn speeding file transfer. Step One
Click on the Start Button
Step Two
Click on Control Panel.
Step Three
Make sure you are in Classic view by Clicking on Classic View.
Step Four
Click on Programs and Features
Step Five
Click on Turn windows features on or off
At this point you might be asked by windows to confirm your choice just click continue if so.
Step Six
Uncheck the box that says Remote Differential Compression and then Click OK.
Step Seven
Now you will see an box like the image below showing you that the changes are being configured, once this is finished you may need to restart your computer for changes to take affect.
All Done!
You have now turned off Remote Differential Compression and once you have restarted your computer you should notice some difference in transfer speed. If you wish to turn Remote Differential Compression back on just follow the tutorial once again but this time tick the box.
