Enabling Tablet PC Optional Components in Windows Vista
Tablet PC Optional Components is a feature that can be turned on or off within Windows Vistas Programs and Features. When the Tablet PC Feature is enabled you will have access to:
1. Handwriting Recognition
2. Windows Journal
3. Snipping Tool
If for what ever reason the Tablet PC Optional Components is disabled you will NOT have access to the above features, this tutorial is going to show you how to enable/turn on the Tablet PC Optional Components Feature within Windows Vista.
Step One
Click on the Start Button. (see image if unsure)
Step Two
Click on Control Panel
Step Three
Switch to Classic View, by clicking on Classic View (see image below for location).
Step Four
Now that we are in Classic View scroll down until you find Programs and Features, Double Click Programs and features.
Step Five
Now Click Turn Windows Features On or Off. Once you have clicked this you will be asked for permission to continue by Windows Vista, Click Continue.
Step Six
Scroll down the Windows Feature list until you find Tablet PC Optional Components Click the box to the left of this to give it a blue tick as seen in the image below.
Step Seven
Now Click OK on to enable Tablet PC Optional Components.
Step Eight
You will now see a dialog windows saying Pleas wait while the features are configured, this might take several minutes please be aware that this window my hang and take a while do not try and close it as it is loading.
Step Nine
When Windows has finished configuring the changes you will be displayed with a dialog box telling you that you need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
Click Restart Now to restart your computer..
Click Restart Later if you don't wish to restart at this time.
Tutorial Completed
You have now enabled Tablet PC Optional Components, and are not able to use the snipping tool, Handwriting Recognition and Windows Journal, please be aware that if you clicked restart later this new features may not be available until you do actually restart your computer.
