Setting Up A Dial-Up Connection

This tutorial is going to show you how to set up a Dialup Connection to the Internet, You will NOT need any other software then what you all ready have to do this assuming you have a dialup modem. Also at the end of this tutorial you can go right onto checking the connection properties if you experience any issues while attempting to connect to the Internet.

Step One

Click Start and Click Control Panel
Or
Hold down the Windows key and press R then type in Control Panel and click Ok.

Step Two

Make sure you are in Classic view
If it says "switch to category view" you are in classic view
If it says "switch to classic view" then you need to click it once.

Step Three

Scroll down in Control Panel until you find Network Connections
Then Double Click Network Connections.

Step Four

Click Create a New Connection.

Now you are in New Connection Wizard
Click Next.

Select Connect to the Internet then Click Next.

Select Set up my connection manually then Click Next.

Step Eight

Select Connect using a dial-up modem then Click Next.

Step Nine

In ISP Name Enter the name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider) then Click Next.

Step Ten

In Phone Number Enter the Phone number given to you by your ISP, then Click Next. Note: Not your House phone number!! the number your ISP gave you to connect to there services.

Step Eleven

Username = your dailup username ( provided by your isp )
Password = your dialup password ( provided by your isp )
Confirm Password = your dialup password ( provided by your isp )
Check = make this my default connection
"Use this account name and password when anyone connects to the Internet from this computer" Check it or UN-check this option, depends on who uses your computer.
Click Next

Step Twelve

Check = "Add a shortcut to this connection on my desktop" then Click Finish.

Step Thirteen

Now if you look in the Network Connections window that is still open you will see the dial-up connection that you created.

Step Fourteen

The Shortcut icon on your desktop will look like this.

Now its simply a cause of doubling clicking the icon on the desktop to dial up the connection and if you have done each step correctly you will connect successfully. If you do not connect successfully to the Internet
