How To Enable System Restore In Windows XP

This tutorial will show you how to enable system restore so that you are able to restore to early points that are known to be working and stable.

Note: The lasted date that you will be able to restore to will be NOW (Today) when you enable again, because when system restore was disabled all previous restore points where deleted. as a result now your first restore point will be made when you complete this tutorial.



Step One

Click on start and Right Click My Computer and select Properties.
If you don't see My Computer in the start menu then My Computer will be located on your desktop, this all depends on your current display settings.

Step Two

Click on the System Restore tab.
If at this point you don't see a System Restore tab then you are NOT logged in as Administrator, before you can complete this tutorial you will need to log in as Administrator

Step Three

UN-Check Turn off System Restore.

Step Four

Set the disk space to use for system restore, between Min and Max, what you set it to depends on your disk space and your preference..

Click Apply.

Click Ok.

Well Done!

You have now enabled system restore and it will start to make restore points as you use your computer. Your first restore point would have been made now! when you just enabled restore again. Hopefully you'll never have to use them!
